Chrono Trigger is a JRPG released by Square in 1995 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The game is pivotal for it's genre, featuring a colorful cast of characters, intense turn-based combat, beautiful artwork, 13 different endings, and one of the most soul-wrenching soundtracks a video game could ever have. The game follows Crono (or whatever the player names him) and his friends across spacetime in an attempt to save the planet from an apocalyptic fate.
